Ross Chastain has become somewhat famous when it comes to watermelon-based activities. The melon man has had his share of stints and on-track antics to be shot into popularity. Now, with his first race win anniversary approaching, Chastain decided to celebrate his win with a rather ambitious task, which of course involves a watermelon.

Recently, it was NASCAR journalist Jeff Gluck who revealed the Trackhouse Racing driver’s plans.

Chastain plans on throwing a watermelon off the 251 ft tall tower at COTA this weekend. Receiving this news, several fans could not control their urge to throw in a joke or two. Considering the recent tussle between Chastain and Denny Hamlin, fans brought up jokes on how the watermelon would somehow bounce off and go hit Hamlin.

While most of the reactions were lighthearted, there was a certain faction that did not approve of the melon man dropping a melon.

It is certain that his melon drop would surely be a sight to behold for NASCAR fans. What a fantastic way to commemorate his first win anniversary in this sport, right? Fans surely would be anticipating a spectacle. However, on social media, fans remained divided on the melon-smashing idea.

Talking about Chastain’s upcoming melon drop one fan joked, “And somehow, Denny Hamlin walks by at that exact time..”

Another fan said, “Sure everyone at ground level will be wearing NASCAR-approved ponchos that are watermelon juice repellent.”

Yet another fan joked that it was the “Most “Florida Man” Ross Chastain thing ever lol.” 

Despite all the jokes, there were quite a few individuals who did not like the melon drop idea.
