After a $5,000 Fine, Joey Gase Returns With His Bumper Antics Albeit With a Twist

Dawson Cram helped Joey Gase make the Richmond Xfinity race go viral due to a “perfectly timed” bumper throw at JD Motorsports #4 Chevy Camaro. Gase’s bumper throw may have been hilarious, but it was also dangerous, as can be deemed by NASCAR’s $5,000 penalty imposed on the 31-year-old Iowa native and the #35 team. Nevertheless, now facing an apparent ‘60,000 + 5,000-dollar deficit’, Gase’s bumper story has taken an even more hilarious turn.
Joey Gase and #53 Car Lands ‘Ironic’ sponsor After Richmond Meltdown
The now-viral frustrations seem warranted after coming at the behest of a former Emerling-Gase Motorsports teammate. Since 2021-22, Gase has taken over the reins of his racing career with his self-titled Joey Gase Motorsports team fielding the #35 and the #53 cars in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. The relatively young owner drives part-time for the team. Notable drivers such as Jeffrey Earnhardt and Conor Daly have occasionally driven for the JGM.

However, the #35 car is probably out for assumed maintenance, courtesy of Dawson Cram. Hence, Joey Gase Motorsports now returns with the #53 Ford for the Martinsville Xfinity race alongside an ironic new sponsor – “Bumpers That Deliver by MBI Auto.”
Racing America’s Joseph Srigley shared the comedic update in a recent Twitter reveal.

It was nice to see that the humor was not lost as one fan aptly commented, “This is too damn funny”. However, the NASCAR nation’s comedy is Joey Gase’s tragedy, and looking at his statements post-Richmond disappointments reveals a bitter truth for owners/drivers in NASCAR.

JGM has been largely unproven so far in the NASCAR’s second-tier series. In almost five years of inception, Joey Gase’s owner efforts have registered zero wins in Xfinity. Moreover, Dawson Cram has taken an active part in JGM’s NXS advances with a solo P30 finish at Darlington back in 2022. Interestingly, Joey Gase himself is the best-placing driver for his self-titled race team with a P9 finish at Talladega the same year. The dynamics do not look very attractive for the owner/driver.
The $5,000 fine from NASCAR only adds to his woes, after admissions to Noah Lewis post-Richmond revealed “a minimum 60,000 dollar” loss on Gase’s end with the #35 car’s condition which affected JGM’s chances to bring “two cars to Martinsville”.

Nevertheless, from Emmy-nominated actor-turned-driver Frankie Muniz to Japanese motocross star-turned-NASCAR familiar Akinori Ogata, to a very Earnhardt, JGM has managed to pull some very interesting personalities behind the wheel of its #35 and #53 teams. This recent marketing ploy is only an example of Joey Gase’s genius behind the scenes of JGM. The Dudes Wipes 250 looks set to be an interesting affair from the start, especially with that name gracing the Xfinity race as the title sponsor.
