Joe Gibbs Racing is one of the heavyweights when talking about NASCAR Cup Series contenders. Since its inception in 1992, the team has clinched the Cup Series Champions five times and came ever so close in the 2023 season. Christopher Bell led the charge for the team while Denny Hamlin was right up there with his partner. Bell’s No.20 Toyota Camry finished 4th in the overall standings, while Hamlin’s No.11 finished 5th, just below his teammate. There is one area, however, where they trumped everyone else.

Bell registered two victories, while Hamlin got three, his most famous yet controversial one came at Bristol when he said “I beat your favorite driver” to the crowd in the grandstands. However, despite losing out on the championship to Team Penske’s Ryan Blaney, Joe Gibbs Racing is reigning supreme in one particular stat for the past season, and that is the Top NASCAR team social post of 2023.

The most valued and respected aspect of NASCAR stock car racing is the championship finishes and wins. Well, this is true but with the new age technology and social media engagement, there is a lot of onus on the team to build a good portfolio of their teams and stay connected with their fans. Some would argue, that the teams climbing the ladder and reaching the peak in terms of views and engagement are the real winners and the same can be said for Joe Gibbs Racing.

Out of all the teams participating in the Cup Series, it was JGR’s reel on Instagram that caught the attention and engagement of the fans. The satisfying video showed one of the crew members scraping the grains of the tire. The purpose of doing this is to get the tire clean as the scraps can hamper the grip of the tire on the racetrack. Many of the users on Instagram found this reel very satisfying and it just went viral, garnering likes, shares, and comments.

The reel that was posted on November 5, 2023, is still gaining views and traction online. This particular reel was shared thirty-four thousand times, while users showered the post with more than 2000 comments. As of now, the reel has 119 million views. This being the top social media post stat was shared by Zoomph on X, stating that the social value of this online post was $1.14 million.

Denny Hamlin Reminisces Brutal Injury That Nearly Ended His NASCAR Career

For a team like Joe Gibbs Racing, online engagement is a good indicator of their connection with the fans but a championship win would certainly mean more than topping the social media post charts.

As of now, he has embraced the tag of NASCAR’s villain but there’s more to him than meets the eye. For instance, the No.11 finished just behind his partner, Christopher Bell but had more wins than him, a total of 3 throughout the season. If it wasn’t for the mechanical issues at Homestead Miami Speedway we would be having a different conversation right now.

It indeed was a major blow for his championship aspirations, the mechanical issue to his No.11 Toyota saw him finish 30th in that particular race. Talk about stakes being high in the Cup Series, a single incident like this potentially saw Hamlin lose out on the big prize. Hamlin certainly is a contender for the 2024 season but he will have to look after his shoulder that has been causing his issues of late.
