Tony Stewart hasn’t had the best of starts to this year’s SRX Series season. The former Cup Series Champion wasn’t able to finish the inaugural race and only managed a 7th-place finish in the second race. It is a testament to how seriously Stewart takes his profession that despite the SRX Series not being a premier event as far as stock car racing goes, Stewart was visibly disappointed with his performance after the race.

As one of the owners of the SRX Series, Stewart has to focus on a lot more than just competing on the track. This might be influencing how his SRX season has turned out thus far. However, Stewart knows how to make lemonade as during a post-race interview, he cheekily mentioned that he did not face the issue that has been bugging most of the other drivers over the past 2 weeks.

One just cannot start listing the accolades gathered by the versatile Tony Stewart throughout his career. Such is his hunger that even after winning multiple series in NASCAR, dirt racing, and IndyCar, he started his career in one of the most physically demanding motorsports at the age of 50—Drag racing in NHRA.

Despite being one of the favorites, he hasn’t had the best of starts to the SRX Series this year. In the second race, Stewart only managed to finish in the seventh position which is way below his standards. After running well in the race, Stewart made an error at a place where it was almost impossible for him to turn his car. All the time that he lost ended up losing his place in the standings.

In an interview after the race, Stewart said, “My car was just tight; dead center of the corner to the beginning of the last third, and it’s the worst spot to be bad if you’re going to be bad anywhere.” Later he added that he was unable to rotate his car and since he couldn’t rotate the car there was no point in getting back on the gas.

In the end, he made light of the situation by saying, “I did a lot better catching fish last night on the lake than I did driving a race car tonight.” Though he lost the race, it is good to see that Stewart did not lose his sense of humor.

There has been a lot of heat that Tony Stewart has faced regarding brake failure in the SRX cars. However, there hasn’t a conclusive solution that has been devised by Stewart and his team till now.

Despite being unhappy with his performance, after the race Stewart said that he was glad that he didn’t face brake failure. In a post race interview he said, “It was somewhat uneventful where I was at in the main. But I tried to take care of everything I felt like you know listening to the crew chief on the radio. Our brakes looked a lot better than some and I know some guys had brake problems.”

Later when he was asked about the brake problem specifically, he said that it is due to the increased size of tire. He said that since we are running at more speed due to new Goodyear Radio tire, the braking has become tougher. He didn’t say if there is going to be a solution devised against this problem or not. However, it is expected that SRX will take some action against the brake issue in the upcoming races.
