The season has started quite well for Ross Chastain as he went on to pick up the victory in the Circuit of the Americas. This was the very first win for the 29-year-old driver in his Cup Series career. Hendricks Motorsport Vice President Chad Knaus lauded the winner for his feat.

NASCAR was in Austin for the sixth round of the Cup series and it provided the fans with a great spectacle. Chastain drives for Trackhouse Racing, the team owned by Pitbull and ex-NASCAR driver Justin Marks. Interestingly, this was the first-ever victory for Trackhouse Racing as well as they continue their impressive second season in the sport.

Winner Ross Chastain had accompanied Hendrick Motorsport’s Chad Knaus in an interview with Fox Sports. When asked about the racer’s approach to winning, Chad stated that whatever he did, he did well. Knaus conveyed, “Yeah, We got a shot at this cause I saw the vision, I saw the future, I knew that was gonna happen. And it played out exactly the way even Alex had hoped.”

The only thing that failed for us that we weren’t been able to catch up or take advantage of it. I thought that was exciting, that was a great race, I think you did exactly what you should’ve done. He got into you a little bit, you got into him a little bit. I think that’s a well-deserved victory because you were very fast all day long and I’m proud of you. I think it was great.”, the Vice President further stated.

Ross won the race after the brutal last-lap battle with his former teammate and mentor AJ Allmendinger. Meanwhile, Hendrick Motorsport’s Alex Bowman finished in second place.
