By all means, racing is a highly strenuous business. It is not as simple as just sitting in a car and driving as fast as possible. In fact, these cars can be very physically demanding, and NASCAR cars are pretty heavy. It is also worth mentioning that NASCAR races can be long, and there may not be time for drivers to relieve themselves.

So the big question is, do they wear adult diapers to get rid of any excess body waste? Before that, one has to wonder how long a typical NASCAR race is. The answer is that it normally lasts for at least three hours because the cars are circulating for 100s of laps. However, the time does vary a little bit, depending on the number of cautions or potential stoppages for any reason.

So do NASCAR drivers pee in their suits? The answer is no because the drivers tend to sweat so much that there is very little need to use a toilet. In fact, NASCAR driver David Ragan once said, “Generally, you sweat out so much you don’t have to go. In over 11 years of racing in the NASCAR Cup Series, I’ve never had to go to the bathroom bad enough to go,”

Why Are There Rumors About NASCAR Drivers Wearing Diapers?

Admittedly, not much is known about where that rumor of NASCAR drivers wearing diapers began. However, it is worth noting that the diapers themselves could be a hazard. This is because the diaper’s material could be flammable and prove to be dangerous for the drivers. Considering what happened to Kevin Harvick last time out at Darlington, a diaper made from flammable material could be disastrous.

With all this being said, did any driver use the bathroom during a race? When a race is actively running, it is practically impossible for a driver to quickly run to the bathroom without losing a chunk of spots. So the only opportunity is when the race has been red-flagged for whatever reason. Because the race has been immobilized, the drivers are free to get out of their cars and go about their business.

Finally, with all this talk of diapers, are there any diaper companies that sponsored NASCAR drivers? The answer is yes, as the brand Depend once sponsored Colombian driver Juan Pablo Montoya. This was done in partnership with Montoya’s primary sponsor, Target. However, there was also Boudreaux’s Butt Paste. This was a company that sponsored NASCAR driver Kevin Ray and it advertised a cream to treat diaper rash.

In the worst-case scenario where drivers have to go to the toilet while in the race, they usually pee into their firesuits. Obviously, a number of drivers relieve themselves before the race begins, but they do pee themselves if it is a real emergency.
