While the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season is still months away, NASCAR has already begun to tease about the new race tracks and venues they are looking to add to their schedule. In recent years, NASCAR has managed to pull off successful events like the Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum and last year’s Chicago Street race. However, with the three year contract up, NASCAR is looking to try their hand at a brand new experiment.

According to a report by the Sports Business Journal, NASCAR Holdings had talks with the Dodger about staging a race at the iconic Dodger Stadium in the coming years. Many experts from the community believe that NASCAR’s pre-season race has found a new home.

One thing is clear, the traditional and hardcore NASCAR fans never liked the idea of racing inside a stadium. For them, a traditional race as the season’s opener made much more sense. The motive behind such a move was NASCAR’s plan to attract new audiences to the sport. An idea that could not prosper if NASCAR continued with its traditional template of racing.

There was this feeling about the 2024 Busch Light Clash that it would be the last one at the venue. Given that NASCAR is assessing options such as Dodger Stadium, it suggests that they are eyeing a new home for the Clash.

At the moment, there is no clear idea or direction on how the NASCAR race would pan out at Dodger Stadium. There is a possibility of a street-style race around the venue, an idea similar to F1 racing around the Hard Rock Stadium. Whereas, they can always go back to racing inside the stadium on a temporarily built short track.

A unique approach and idea is often met with skepticism by a group of fans. While there are those who look at the larger picture and appreciate the new ideas put in place by NASCAR.

While some fans are criticizing the idea, others are thrilled about the potential new venue for the Busch Light Clash

It is indeed a tough ask for a majority of NASCAR fans to have a common consensus on a range of topics and developments. This was the case with a recent report about NASCAR moving the Clash from the Coliseum to yet another stadium venue.

One particular fan was quick to read between the lines and stated, “The Clash looking to switch venues?”

Not too pleased with moving to a similar venue like the Coliseum, a fan replied, “Ah yes let’s go from one stadium not meant for racing to another right down the road! Great idea.” Similarly, another fan quipped, “this is the best joke of the year.”

An enlightened fan understood NASCAR intentions of making a potential switch and bashed the fans in the comments section, “I am so glad the people in this thread aren’t in control of NASCAR. If yall were in control, you’d just do basic, non-original s**t with no goals of bringing in outsiders of the sport or attracting new fans. The reason NASCAR did the street course and the Coliseum, is to ATTRACT.”

Echoing similar sentiments, another fan added, “Normally I’d want the LA Coliseum but this actually sounds really awesome! Anyone that doesn’t like it can go watch racing at their local dingy short tracks.”

With the Busch Light Clash possibly not returning to the Coliseum, where would you like to see it held from next season?
