The 2020 season went from bad to terrible for Kyle Busch after he had an unwanted record sit next to his name on Sunday. Busch became the first defending champion to be knocked out of the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs before the Round of 12.
While he is no longer in contention for the championship, Busch still has another record to protect. The 35-year-old has scored at least one win in each of the last 15 seasons. In 2020, he is still searching for that maiden win.
However, Busch believes his streak will be broken. He was quite disappointed as he spoke about his season right after his elimination. He admitted he would like the consolation of a win before the season ends.

“I don’t know what to think but certainly it would be nice to score a win. To have a win for this year, that would be the only consolation prize for the way this year’s gone,” said Busch, at his post-race presser.
However, he does not see that win coming.
“How we’ve been running, do we even have a shot to win? No, I don’t think we even have a shot.”

Kyle Busch breaks down the challenges of the season
The Joe Gibbs Racing No. 18 driver also highlighted the doubts he has faced all year on the track. There were times when he thought if there was something wrong with him.
“You know, you go out there and try each and every week. Yeah, there’s certainly been times this year when I thought, man, there’s something wrong with me. I’m not doing it right, I don’t know what I’m doing or car is not quite right. Or I’m not trusting what the car is doing and telling me. So I should just drive it harder, and then I’m crashed,” Busch expressed.

Can Busch make it to victory lane soon?
Again, it is quite possible that Busch said this in frustration and will brush his comments away soon, but time is certainly running away for him to bag the elusive win. His next opportunity arises at the Kansas Speedway next Sunday, where he has a good record over the last few seasons.

It will be interesting to see if another one of Busch’s predictions comes true, or if he proves himself wrong and bags that consolation victory.
