With just over 60 laps remaining, Chastain lost control of his car, causing it to drift towards Gragson, who occupied the outer lane. Although Chastain avoided direct contact, Gragson collided with the outside wall, and his car subsequently struck Chastain. A few laps later, Gragson spun out, ending what had been a promising race for him, ultimately finishing in 29th place.
