Sheldon Creed won his second race in three weeks in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series on Sunday. He beat Brett Moffitt by just .881 seconds to take the victory at the World Wide Technology Raceway. But his win was still marred to some extent by an incident involving him and Todd Gilliland with just under 40 laps remaining.

Gilliland was in the lead when Creed’s No. 2 Chevrolet collided with his No. 38 Ford. The impact sent Gilliland into the wall and he was forced to take an unscheduled pit-stop. Gilliland dominated the race until that incident and won the first two stages as well. However, he finished in 24th place because of the incident.

Todd Gilliland did not tread lightly after the race and expressed his frustration at Sheldon Creed. “I think he (Creed) knows what happened and I know what happened. He just drove in there over his head and got us. That’s racing,” Gilliland said after the race.

“I just hate it. The guys work day and night for me. It was kind of hard for me to hit the wall just coming out of shape there. Had such a good truck there from the beginning going from sixth to first under green,” Gilliland continued. “Then to win both stages, gosh, I feel like it was such a good day and it was one of the more dominant truck races I’ve ever run. We just have to keep this up,” he added.

“(The win) feels great, but I want to start by apologizing to the 38 (Gilliland). It’s so hard to pass here and I got down into his inside and just was really loose getting in,” Creed said later. “He was really close to my door. They were having such a good day and me and Todd are buddies. I hate doing that to him,” Creed added.

Despite the result, Gilliland holds the final playoff spot, courtesy of the two-stage wins. He leads Derek Kraus by 13 points.
