The NASCAR Cup Series race at the Daytona Road Course on Sunday pretty much summed up Kyle Busch’s season. Winless through 23 races now, Kyle Busch had another day to forget this season. He finished 37th and wrecked out of the race with just five laps to go.

Busch’s time in the landmark race was difficult from the very beginning. He was forced to pit during Lap 4 itself after a flat tire was spotted in his car.

This happened on the backstretch chicane when he was trying to out-brake Denny Hamlin as they fought for the early lead.

Busch managed to get up to 12th place by the end of the stage. Then on Lap 25 of the 65-lap race, he went for a spin on the approach to Turn 6. He fell from 7th to 13th place but managed to carry on.

Kyle Busch then found some form and was running in second place behind Chase Elliott with 17 laps to go. But when it’s just not your day, there’s not much you can do.

Busch missed the frontstretch chicane and drove to the pit stop. There his team noticed a problem in the brake rotor of his car. He went to the garage for repair work and returned to the race six laps later.

The fourth time was still not the charm for Busch, and his last incident forced him out of the race. With five laps to go, the rear tire of Busch’s car was done for which induced a spin before he hit the outside wall on the backstretch.

There was no coming back for Busch after that. The incident brought out the caution and also made things slightly interesting as Denny Hamlin and Martin Truex Jr. had a chance to catch Chase Elliott for the lead. However, Elliott prevailed.
