A lot has been happening with Thad Moffitt, as confirmed by Faction46’s new owner. The new NASCAR Truck Series team has quite a few hurdles to conquer, but with Richard Petty’s grandson behind the wheel, it would be an interesting quest. Moffitt recently spoke candidly about his challenges in his exclusive conversation with EssentiallySports.

While Thad Moffitt has been a popular face in the ARCA Menards Series, this will be his first full-time season in the Truck Series. With him in the #46 Chevrolet Silverado, there is surely a lot to unravel. He recently took time to detail how his journey with Faction46 came to life.

Just a few days ago, Thad Moffitt was a regular face in the ARCA Menards Series. Now that he has made it full-time in the Truck Series, there is no controlling his excitement. With Faction46 giving Thad Moffitt an ideal platform, he is ecstatic about the opportunity. In an exclusive interview with EssentiallySports, Moffitt expressed how reality is hitting him hard. He said, “It’s still so new. It’s definitely hitting me. It’s definitely real now. We are going Truck racing, Chevy’s helping us, Niece’s helping us. This is not just a theory, this is actually happening, this is really cool.”

Further, Thad Moffitt explained how Faction46 has a different approach than other NASCAR teams. He said, “Traditionally in motorsports, your name brand teams and you think of like, Hendrick Motorsports, Joe Gibbs Racing, like, it’s first-last name and racing or motorsports. With this, it’s more like a Trackhouse model. It’s something totally different.”

While the approach may be unorthodox, due credit must be given to Faction46 co-owner, Lane Moore. Thad Moffitt couldn’t enjoy his company more. In his words, “Working with Lane is really, really fun so far. Lane is an awesome guy and he is a fortunate racing grocer and I am a fortunate racing race car driver, so it fits really well.”

What he said next is the most exciting thing. Thad Moffitt explained how it all started between him and Faction46. He added, “We work with a company called A.E. Engine. We have an employee here at Petty’s garage who is close in touch with A.E. and his company. So Lane Moore came to this company and said I wanted to start a Truck team next year.”

It was then that Lane Moore offered Thad Moffitt the chance, and the rest is history. However, there was something immensely odd about the approach involving Faction46 and Moore.

It is no secret how a driver is expected to bring in sponsors to continue his racing career in NASCAR. While it has proven to be troublesome for many, even Moffitt has been on the receiving end of such demands. Speaking exclusively to EssentiallySports, he explained the scenario.

Thad Moffitt said, “Throughout my career, I have had people call and say hey man we want to drive our stuff but it’s going to cost x amount of dollars, so it’s always a catch in there.” However, with Faction46 it was a completely different story. As Moffitt explained, the approach was collective to handle the financial dilemma.

The question involved in handling this situation was, “Hey, how can we all make this happen?” As Thad Moffitt described, people tried relentlessly to use all their connections to make it happen, and it was not just him that was left in the hunt with a “Pay to Drive” agenda.

Further, he explained how his meeting with Lane Moore changed things. He said, “Then I met Lane for the first time at Bristol in September last year and when I met Lane it had to happen. When I first met him, he was part of the family already and he made me like I was part of the family.”
