“Can’t Wait to Get Started”- Kevin Magnussen to Chart a Course to IMSA With Chip Ganassi Racing

Earlier this year, Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean decided to part ways with Haas F1. Now, it has transpired that Magnussen has a racing gig for the 2021 season. As it turns out, Chip Ganassi Racing is set to return to the racing scene.
The Danish driver is partnering with Renger van der Zande, and both will race on a full-time basis. However, the identity of their third teammate remains unknown.

It is also worth noting that when Magnussen joins the IMSA grid, there will be a number of familiar faces. To be precise, there are a few ex-F1 drivers like Alexander Rossi, Felipe Nasr, and Juan Pablo Montoya.

Luckily for Chip Ganassi Racing, Kevin Magnussen won’t be completely out of his depth. This is because van der Zande is a veteran in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Next season, Magnussen and van der Zande are set to drive for the team’s Cadillac DPi-V.R program.
Kevin Magnussen could be under a bit of pressure
As it turns out, the 28-year-old comes from a rich IMSA background. His father, Jan Magnussen, won the 2017 and 2018 WeatherTech SportsCar Championships. Obviously, this could add a bit of pressure to emulate his father.

“If you are in professional racing anywhere in the world, you know the name Chip Ganassi and what it represents in motorsports,” he said.
“Chip has built one of the best racing organizations on and off the track, and you can look back in history and see the tremendous record of success, especially as it relates to sports car racing.
“It’s a great opportunity for myself to team up with CGR, Renger, and Cadillac. I can’t wait to get started, meet the team and begin preparations for the 2021 season.”
For the moment, Magnussen is focusing on wrapping up his Formula One career. The Dane is competing this weekend in Bahrain, and next weekend in Abu Dhabi before bidding the paddock adieu.
