Just because some racing drivers stick to one particular series, it does not mean that they are pigeon-holed there. Some drivers often perform a crossover of racing disciplines, where they drive a completely different machine. Some time ago, Lewis Hamilton got the chance to drive a NASCAR car, and he thoroughly enjoyed himself.

The Mercedes driver spoke to former NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon about the experience, while Gordon also recounted his experience in an F1 car. As it turns out, Gordon managed to get a run behind the wheel of a 2003 Williams F1 car.

The former NASCAR champion confessed that he was almost deafened by the screaming V10 engine.

Speaking about his NASCAR experience, Lewis Hamilton said, “I loved driving the NASCAR at Watkins Glen. What I like about it, is that I love manual. I’m really an oldie, I love manual transmission. That’s something we don’t obviously have in Formula One and I wish that we did.”

Back in 2011, Hamilton and NASCAR legend Tony Stewart swapped cars at the Walkins Glen International circuit. That is when Hamilton got the chance to drive a NASCAR car.

The good news is that he can tick MotoGP bikes off the bucket list. This comes courtesy of his seat swap with Italian MotoGP legend, Valentino Rossi. Hamilton had a deep admiration for MotoGP riders and the speeds they achieve on those bikes.

He also observed that whenever the riders brake, they raise the rear tire off the ground to reduce tire-degradation. Jeff Gordon also confessed that he has never ridden a bike before.

On a parting note, the former Hendrick Motorsports driver declared that he would love to see Hamilton in a sprint car on the dirt. He harked back to F1 driver Kevin Magnussen testing a car due to his Haas connection.
