Jeff Gordon has been an icon in the NASCAR world in a similar way to Formula One’s Max Verstappen, with two championships under his belt. He is slowly gaining momentum to be an all-time great. However, recently an Xfinity driver decided to pick the wrong names to compare the two NASCAR drivers. Fans did not appreciate the comparison and fired away.

Xfinity driver, James Davison, recently was seen in an interview, where he stated that Ty Gibbs was The Max Verstappen of NASCAR,” while, AJ Allmendinger is “The new Jeff Gordon.”

Fans could not fathom the comparison since Jeff Gordon was a racing legend with 4 Cup Series championships under his wings. Meanwhile, a similar sentiment ran for the fans of Verstappen, who only recently was crowned the 2022 Formula One World Champion, after his spectacular win at Suzuka, Japan.

Some fans stated that Gibbs would be more of a Danica Patrick or the infamous Nikita Mazepin who once raced in Formula One, and has the greatest career highlight to be of a walking meme.

Fans launched a series of defences against Davison’s comments. By this time it is pretty certain that the comparison did not go well with the community. If anything it only led to more comparisons with several other drivers. While it is true that Allmendinger is nothing like Gordon during his peak, he might have showcased his prowess on track a couple of times but that barely shrouds an inch off when Gordon was the talk of the town during his glory days.
