Fans Call Bubba Wallace “Worse Than Danica [Patrick]” as Denny Hamlin “Essentially Walled His Own Car” at Daytona 500

During the 2023 Daytona 500, most of the Toyota drivers were running riot and leading the race. That lasted until Bubba Wallace got bumped from behind and brushed the wall. In essence, the incident killed his car’s momentum, and he tumbled dramatically down the order. At the time, he was leading the race, and the Toyotas were locked in a fierce battle with several Ford cars.

Apparently, the culprit was his fellow Toyota compatriot, Martin Truex Jr. However, in Truex Jr‘s defense, he also got a bump from his own teammate, Denny Hamlin. What the trio was possibly trying was to get the tow off each other and protect themselves from the Ford contingent. The good news for the 23XI Racing driver was that he was not out of the race, but he did plummet like a stone. There were plenty of Bubba Wallace haters who were quick to blame the 23XI Racing driver and have a laugh.

Fans made merry at the expense of Bubba Wallace

According to some NASCAR fans, this was just typical Bubba Wallace antics. Hence, the incident came as no surprise to them and many believed that he had it coming.

 

Though fans had a few laughs at Bubba’s fate on track, the irony of Denny Hamlin triggering an incident that hindered his own driver was also not lost on anyone.

23XI Racing co-owner and fellow NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin was at the receiving end of some tweets. Meanwhile, one NASCAR fan even tried dragging Danica Patrick into the conversation.

The Twitter user did this by trying to compare her to the #23 driver and saying that Wallace was a worse driver than her.

It was a bit ironic for Hamlin to trigger the incident. After all, 23XI Racing is his own team, and Wallace is his own driver. Also, Wallace’s poor result, all things considered, might have made the 23XI Racing’s post-race debrief somewhat awkward.
