It is no secret how the Daytona 500 race excites NASCAR fans more often than not. After all, it sets the tone for the Cup Series, at least how it has been doing since 1982. Given the large purse size it carries, the race is equally exciting for the drivers. While not many want to miss out on The Great American Race, a recently revealed stat from NASCAR has stunned the sport’s loyal fandom.
It is just 101 days now that the Cup Series is away from kickstarting the 2024 season at the Daytona International Speedway. With the track having a history of sellouts very frequently, it promises to be more than an exciting affair.

The 2024 Daytona 500 is already making the headlines
Just last Sunday, the 2023 Cup Series came to a thrilling end. While Ryan Blaney earned a well-deserved championship victory, NASCAR fans are now left with a dry period of over three months. However, with the 2024 schedule out, many could benefit from advance ticket booking.
With the Daytona 500 being the season’s first race, it is always best to freeze the tickets for the race as early as possible. It is worth noting that NASCAR started the ticket booking on July 7 this year. For the 2023 edition of the race, the track announced a sellout of grandstand tickets in mid-January.

Having said that, the viewership did take a severe hit as compared to 2022. The Daytona 500 witnessed a drop of 8% with 8.2 million viewers on Fox. While it wasn’t as bad as 7 million in 2020, it wasn’t as great as expected. However, things are likely to improve the next year considering what NASCAR recently announced.
Fox sports journalist Bob Pockrass revealed with his tweet that the 2024 Daytona 500 has already sold 98% of the grandstand seats. This comes with NASCAR recently sending an email to its customer list. While we are just in November, it is an impressive stat nevertheless.
According to an email sent to its customer list, NASCAR says that 98 percent of the grandstand seats are sold for the Daytona 500.

It is worth noting that there has been a reduction in seats over the years as NASCAR tore down the super stretch grandstands. Nonetheless, it is amazing how the excitement for the Cup Series next year has already taken over. What might have influenced it remains debatable but the governing body would surely take the win.

NASCAR fandom in dismay as the 2024 Daytona 500 comes closer to sellout in November
With the struggles in viewership in 2023, it is necessary that NASCAR does its best in promoting the sport. With the Daytona 500 so close to a grandstand sellout in November, the signs are certainly promising. While it is positive news, many fans found it difficult to digest.
Some of them were quite vocal about it on Twitter. One of the fans was in utter belief as he commented, “Dead sport, they’re clearly lying.” Another one spoke on similar lines adding a personal touch to it as they said, “You gotta be kidding me I was supposed to be getting tickets for my birthday in 2 weeks.”

While a few accused NASCAR of lying, many found it believable too. One fan with his past experience of Daytona said, “Last year was a sellout too. I was at the race last year and the place was packed shoulder to shoulder. It was by far the best event I’ve been too.”

Another fan confirmed by checking out the official website as they said, “This tracks. I took a look at Daytona’s website the other day just for kicks and there’s barely any Sunday-only tickets left and no 2 or 4 day passes.” Amazingly, the comments also witnessed a lucky fan who was quick enough to book tickets. They said, “I can’t wait to be there in February.”
