“For Me It’s All About The Oval”: Kevin Harvick Wants NASCAR Cup Series to Keep Racing on The IMS Oval

NASCAR star Kevin Harvick feels that NASCAR should keep on racing in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval and not switch to the road track.

Kevin Harvick was talking to Fox NASCAR’s Bob Pockrass. In the video, he said, “I would never vote for the Cup cars to not run on the oval.”

He added, “I like everything about the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. But for me, it’s all about the oval. Racing on a traditional race track just because of the fact that I am kinda old school. The Cup cars started the Brickyard 400 and that was what it was always meant to be. It’s an iconic one-off Cup car event.”

After that, he talked about the road course’s role in expanding the IMS’s horizon. He said, “Hopefully, the road course can take the role for the Xfinity series racing, Truck series. And be able to bring the IndyCar and NASCAR together at the Speedway”

Kevin Harvick holds a remarkable IMS record

Kevin Harvick shares a very remarkable NASCAR record with legendary drivers Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, and Dale Earnhardt. He is one of the four drivers to have won the Daytona 500, Coca-Cola 600, Southern 500, and Brickyard 400 races.

Last week, Harvick won his third NASCAR Cup Series race after NASCAR’s return from the COVID-19 induced lockdown on May 17. Additionally, he ended his years-long winless streak at the Pocono Raceway in a rain-delayed ‘Pocono Organics 325 in partnership with Rodale Institute’. In the next Cup race at Pocono, Denny Hamlin was able to triumph over Harvick in the ‘Pocono 350′.

Currently, Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin are the top contenders for the Cup Series title with both of them displaying a dominating show and scoring multiple victories after the series’ return.
