Back in 2008, a fresh-faced Joey Logano made his debut in the NASCAR Cup Series. Of course, as a rookie, he only had a handful of appearances in the season, driving the #2 car, and the #96 Hall of Fame Racing car. A year later, he made his full-time debut for Joe Gibbs Racing, driving the #20 car. He drove for the outfit until 2013, and then moved to the Team Penske organization in the #22 car.

However, in 2019, it transpired that Logano was diagnosed with Alopecia areata. Fortunately for the 2018 Cup Series champion, this condition is not very serious, as far as health concerns go. What the condition does is that it attacks the hair follicles and results in the hair thinning in patches or baldness. It is also worth mentioning that actor Jada Pinkett Smith also has the same condition, and she was diagnosed in 2018.

How have Joey Logano and Jada Pinkett Smith treated the condition?

Interestingly, Logano has often joked about his condition, and even Pinkett Smith has done the same. The Team Penske driver had bought spectacles in 2019, and joked that it went well with his ‘receding hairline’.

Unfortunately, Will Smith and Chris Rock didn’t get the memo on the Oscars night. The comedian made some jokes about Pinkett Smith’s alopecia, and her husband Will did not appreciate it.

However, that is a whole different can of worms, which we’d rather not open. On a more serious note, Joey Logano is eagerly waiting for the next round of the 2022 NASCAR Cup season.

This weekend, the paddock is at the Texas Motor Speedway for the All-Star race. Admittedly, there are no championship points up for grabs. However, the drivers are treating this as an important race because there is a $1 million cash prize ripe for the picking.
