In the 90s and early 2000s, Waltrip was also involved in feuds with fellow racers such as Dave Marcis, Lake Speed, Jeff Green, and Robby Gordon.
Waltrip began his career at the age of 15. He made his debut in NASCAR in a Cup Series race in 1985. That race was won by his brother Darrell Waltrip. He was part of the Cup Series and lower series for the rest of the 80s and 90s.
At one point, he also had the longest streak without a victory in the Cup Series – 462 races. That streak finally came to an end after he won the Daytona 500 in 2001.
