If there’s one thing the Next Gen car has enabled in NASCAR this season, it is to widen the pool of winners. Unlike previous years, this year there have been multiple winners, multiple first-time winners with any one driver unable to completely dominate.
This has led to a conversation in NASCAR circles around whether or not there will be 17 different winners at the end of the regular season, something spotters Freddie Kraft and TJ Majors also shared their opinion on.
“Every time we have a new winner we have this talk of whether we’re gonna have 17 winners, and it’s not gonna happen, I don’t think,” Kraft said in a recent episode of the Door Bumper Clear podcast.

“If we go to Daytona and there are 16 winners, then we can talk about that there’s going to be 17 winners because that’s a complete wild card that literally anybody could win.”

On the other hand, TJ Majors believed otherwise. The spotter for Brad Keselowski named the track that could be that wild car that Bubba Wallace’s spotter mentioned.
“It’s definitely possible. Nashville’s a wild card for me,” Majors said. “To have this conversation means you don’t have one guy winning eight races right now.”
