After bagging the front row position and securing their starting spot in the 66th running of the Daytona 500, Front Row Motorsports has announced its extension with Ford. Moreover, the new extension will see them ally with Team Penske. Considering the results of Wednesday’s qualifying session, the two teams were working behind the scenes and certainly made some good progress with their new Dark Horse Mustangs.

Making the most of this partnership, FRM will collaborate with the championship-winning team to improve their car. It is understood that Penske will help them improve on vital fronts such as engineering, aerodynamics, race setup, strategy, pit crew development, and other projects. With this alliance, FRM is certainly in a good position to bag a positive result at the Daytona 500, especially with Michael McDowell leading the charge.

Collaboration certainly allows the mid-pack team to rise and make their case as a competitive racing team. This was certainly what FRM achieved with its partnership with Ford Performance, especially with Team Penske. However, despite the teams announcing the collaboration now, NASCAR Insider feels like the two teams were already in cahoots well before the impressive stint by FRM on Wednesday.

Taking to X, Bob Pockrass wrote, “Front Row Motorsports announces an extension and alliance with Team Penske. This deal was done well before the front row was set yesterday.” Given that Penske was the tutor and FRM played the student’s role, it was only befitting that Joey Logano got the better of Michael McDowell.

Mark Rushbrook, global director of Ford Performance Motorsports, said this in announcing the extension with FRM, “A racer’s mindset isn’t suited to be patient. We all want results immediately, but the way Bob Jenkins and Jerry Freeze have built Front Row Motorsports through the years is a model for how it should be done. We’ve always been proud of our partnership and can’t wait to see how much higher they can go with this new Team Penske alliance.”
