As the curtain starts to fall with only eight races left, Kevin Harvick is about to hang up his boots, which will leave a void not just for his team but also for competitors like Chase Elliott and Joey Logano. While these speedsters might not have always seen eye-to-eye, Harvick’s retirement has brought them together, as rivals old and new unite to tip their hats in a farewell video, spilling the beans on the nickname Harvick collected over the years.

What is Kevin Harvick?s nickname?

For a man hailed as NASCAR’s resident jester, one who’s played pranks even on legends like Tony Stewart, it’s a tad surprising to learn he has a short fuse. While NASCAR is known to have more sparks flying off the track than on it, it’s a bit of a curveball to think of “Happy Harvick” losing his cool.

Stewart-Haas Racing’s official page recently lifted the veil, with past rivals, including the likes of Chase Elliott, Denny Hamlin, Jimmie Johnson, Greg Biffle, Joey Logano, and Ryan Blaney, spilling the beans on their on-track scuffles with Harvick. Ironically, Tony Stewart kicked off the revelations by sharing that Harvick’s moniker, “Happy Harvick,” wasn’t due to his sunny disposition. More often than not, Harvick was in the thick of some dust-up, his smile a rare sight.

Chase Elliott added fuel to the fire, recalling a near-physical brawl with Kevin Harvick after a heated Bristol race two years ago. While NASCAR officials managed to nip their spat in the bud before fists flew, Harvick’s attempt to square up with Elliott didn’t go unnoticed. A miffed Harvick later lambasted Elliott for what he dubbed a “chickensh*t move”.

Although their feud cooled down, with both later agreeing to disagree, Elliott holds Harvick in high esteem. He quipped in the video, “He is a guy that is typically going to give you what he gets in return, and on most days that?s fair. As a race car driver, you are always wanting to push it and find that next little bit.”

Yet Elliott isn’t alone in having locked horns with Harvick; the list runs long. Another notable clash was the one between Harvick and Greg Biffle.

A punch-up between Kevin Harvick and Greg Biffle

When sparks flew between Kevin Harvick and Greg Biffle back in 2002 during a NASCAR Xfinity race at Bristol, it left many on the edge of their seats. After Biffle nudged him around turn 4, Harvick, already riding a slippery slope with a loose car, found himself spinning out.

Once the dust settled, Harvick took his post by the pit box, seemingly biding his time. And when Biffle rolled in, it seemed like the kettle was about to boil over as Harvick, not missing a beat, lunged for Biffle’s collar. A full-blown donnybrook seemed inevitable. But, in the nick of time, a knight in shining armor from Biffle?s crew swooped in, pulling Harvick away from the brewing storm.

As he mentioned in the same video, Biffle, having already had his knuckles rapped with a fine and a point deduction earlier that year, played it cool, keeping his hands clean and by his side. But one has to wonder: is Bristol Harvick’s boiling point? And if history were to repeat itself today, would “Happy Harvick” turn the other cheek? Do share your thoughts in the comments below.
