It is no secret that Tony Stewart is not a fan of Goodyear. There are several documented instances of the multi-time Cup Series champion going after the tire maker. Goodyear has on occasion delivered below-par products to a race weekend that has frustrated drivers. But perhaps no one was as vocal as the Stewart-Haas Racing boss. So when one of his up-and-coming drivers left the tire-manufacturer products absolutely decimated, SHR had no problem cashing in.

Things are probably not as bad as they used to be with Goodyear back when Tony Stewart was a full-time Cup Series driver. Technological advancements have helped the tire manufacturer come up with decent products for races. However, last weekend’s race at Las Vegas saw a number of Cup Series drivers struggle.

Tony Stewart prodigy makes the headlines at Goodyear’s expense

This past weekend, Kyle Larson and William Byron both complained about tire issues during practice. Chase Elliott suffered a horrible fate as his right rear tire blew out and he crashed in practice. The damage to his car was too severe and he could not participate in qualifying. He was forced to start from the back of the pack.

However, one of Tony Stewart’s drivers managed to take the checkered flag on Goodyear tires elsewhere. Riley Herbst took his first victory in the Xfinity Series at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Saturday. It was an incredible result for a team that had been struggling all year long. Tony Stewart must have been ecstatic with the result after the tough season that he has had as a team boss.

After the victory, Riley Herbst took a trip to Victory Lane and did some serious tire burnouts. Any driver taking their first win in the Xfinity Series would have done so. But big burnouts take a heavy toll on the tyres and Goodyear’s were no different. The rear tires were absolutely decimated after Herbst’s victory celebration.

In a recent video released by SHR on Twitter, fans could witness just what happened to Goodyear’s products. The left-rear tire took the brunt of the burnouts. This meant that the SHR mechanics had to get a new tire under the car after celebrations, but no one was complaining.

The official Twitter handle of Tony Stewart’s team decided to be cheeky and captioned the video, “A good problem to have.”

Riley Herbst had to wait for a long time before he earned his first-ever Xfinity Series victory. The Stewart-Haas Racing star was emotional, celebrating the first of hopefully many.
