On October 8th, Bubba Wallace celebrated his 27th birthday. The African-American driver recently reacted to the news that Matt DiBenedetto is staying in the Cup Series in 2021.
Suffice to say, Wallace was absolutely thrilled for the 29-year-old driver. To the point that he declared that it was an excellent birthday present. The two are seemingly pretty good friends, and Wallace is well-liked in the NASCAR paddock.
Now, the two are extremely happy because both their futures are pretty much secure. Bubba Wallace confirmed his status earlier this year, and now DiBenedetto has locked his own future.

How have Bubba Wallace and Matt DiBenedetto secured their futures?
Last month, Denny Hamlin and NBA legend Michael Jordan teamed up to create a brand new NASCAR team. They hand-picked Bubba Wallace to race for them, and he was only too happy to do it. Many recognized Wallace’s talent, and they firmly believe that Hamlin and Jordan’s venture is a worthy destination.
Meanwhile, DiBenedetto had to wait just a little while longer to secure his own Cup Series future. To be precise, the Wood Brothers Racing (WBR) team has confirmed that they are extending his contract by another year. However, this does leave him hanging for the 2022 season and he will be under pressure to perform.
Obviously, the 29-year-old has unfinished business in NASCAR and will want to prove his mettle in 2021. If he can secure a decent seat for 2022 and beyond, it would do him a world of good.

For the moment, the two have to see off the remainder of their current contracts. Bubba Wallace is contesting his final few races for Richard Childress Racing before the move to Jordan’s team.
Meanwhile, Matt DiBenedetto is going to race comfortably, with the knowledge that he will be back in the #21 Wood Brothers Racing car.
