It seems like the comments have gotten to her head, as she does not seem too confident about her performance in this race. She said in an interview with Racer, “Yeah, there are a couple of different ways that it can go. Finishing the race with all the laps and not getting in any little stupid mishaps on the track would be very good.”

But in a race, there are unforeseen circumstances, too. But she seems more worried about making mistakes, “There are some things that are out of your control. The things that are in my control during the race – I don’t want to make any mistakes.”

Yet, she remains optimistic about her first Xfinity run, “I just want to go out there and get comfortable and go into the second stage and make some good changes and then really get after it in the third stage. It’s hard to say. I’d be super-happy with a top 10 or a top 15. I’d be pretty happy with that.”

Do you think she will manage to get a top-15 finish? Because she seems to be under quite a bit of pressure.

Hailie Deegan opens up on the pressure for her first Xfinity Series race

NASCAR has a 25-min practice session before the qualifying, which all happens a day before the actual Xfinity Series race. And Deegan, who is new to the series opened up on how challenging it is for new drivers to just have 25 minutes. Especially since NASCAR doesn’t allow any testing beforehand.

Deegan said in the same interview. “It’s just different now and, I feel, a lot harder. There is more pressure on these younger drivers to step up to the pace and to try and be as perfect as they can. You can’t really ask anyone to be perfect. You’re just trying to do everything you can with as few mistakes as possible, but also trying to learn as much as you can and not exactly having enough time to learn everything that you want to.”
