Rajah Caruth is a promising young driver who recently displayed his wheel prowess. The 21-year-old driver grabbed the checkered flag at the Las Vegas Craftsman Truck Series race. However, the talented racer is interested in more than just the smell of burning rubber. Caruth follows basketball in his spare time.

He recently poured love online for his favorite NBA legend, LeBron James of the LA Lakers team. Ahead of the NBA playoffs, tensions rose as each team hoped to beat the buzzer. But alas, Caruth’s fanboy feelings came crashing down. Then fans sought to correct him that only one NBA GOAT exists, who is currently a NASCAR team owner.

Caruth’s hopes for LeBron James turn futile after the NBA game

The Los Angeles Lakers won the 2020 NBA title during Covid. However, since then, their fortunes have taken a downturn. The Lakers lost in the first round of the playoffs twice, missed the playoffs once, and were swept in the Western Conference Finals. 

With LeBron James, they started weak this season. However, they found their momentum to win game four 119-108. Then the team was gearing up for a good showdown in game five of the third quarter. But the Denver Nuggets came along and dashed their hopes.

Initially, Rajah Caruth rooted for LeBron James on Twitter. The Spire Motorsports driver tweeted: “Bron about to show the world why he’s the 🐐 tonight”.

But then Jamal Murray of the Nuggets beat the Lakers to a pulp. Wading his way through a calf muscle injury, he threw a wrench in LeBron James’ plans with a clutch pull-up jumper with 3.6 seconds to play. 

Fans then rallied to remind LeBron James fanboy Caruth of who is the real GOAT. And it was none other than Michael Jordan, who owns a Cup Series racing team, 23XI. One fan quipped knowingly: “He’s not even close to the goat…”. Another fan posted an iconic GIF video of Jordan scoring a basket, taking a jibe at Caruth’s misconception: “I think you mean, show why he’s #2 to this man:”

Then one fan downplayed Caruth’s emotions with a jibe at his inexperience. “you are a bit young but Michael Jordan is the goat, but I am a big LeBron fan too.  Happy he is in another Olympics (with Curry) in Paris in a few months.”

However, Rajah Caruth’s support for LeBron James is not far-flung. There is a huge debate regarding the GOAT status of Jordan and James.

While Michael Jordan is still the Greatest Of All Time in the eyes of NBA fans, his influence may be growing thinner. That is what statistics indicate, at least. A week back, The Athletic’s annual player poll revealed startling results. 45.9 percent of the 133 players who responded regarding the GOAT question picked His Airness. But votes for LeBron James followed closely, at 42.1 percent.

One player focused on James’ longevity as the reason for his rising popularity. “Just to be able to do it for 20 years, it’s insane. I think it’s more of a longevity thing that you have to look at there, and (how) still every year he’s playing at the highest level.” However, Michael Jordan’s peak may never be matched. He made up for his 2-year baseball hiatus by winning six championships during an eight-year span.

Hence, given LeBron James’ faltering performance, he may not steal the GOAT crown from Jordan yet, even as Rajah Caruth thinks otherwise.
