Recently, news broke that former racer Bill Elliott will join the SRX Racing series. In light of that, his son and current NASCAR driver, Chase Elliott, opened up on the same. For the uninitiated, the SRX series closely resembles the IROC series. However, Tony Stewart declared that it was the steroid version of that series.

Speaking to Michael Waltrip on how the series works, Stewart revealed that 12 drivers will square off against each other. Each of those drivers will also have one specific crew chief each. In addition to that, all the cars are identical and will be specifically set up to suit the respective drivers.

Talking about Bill joining the series, Chase Elliott said, “That will be a lot of fun for him. He really enjoys racing and I think he misses the competition side of things. I think he still has a lot of passion there and will have a lot of fun.”

What next for Chase Elliott?

For the moment, Elliott is focusing on finishing the 2020 NASCAR Season. He is locked in a battle for the Top 8 playoff spots and is lying in fifth place. However, he cannot afford to be complacent, as anything can happen at Talladega. In other words, Elliott will have to be on his toes for this weekend’s race, as well as next week’s race at Charlotte.

For Sunday’s race at Talladega, Chase Elliott has a mountain to climb from 10th on the grid. However, he is confident that he can prevail and make it into the Round of 8. The last time he raced at Talladega, which was earlier this year, he did not have such a great race. So, he will seek redemption, especially since he won the race last year.

Now, he will be thrilled that his father, Bill Elliott, will be back in racing action next year, with the SRX series. Admittedly, Elliott Sr will have plenty of competition, in the form of Tony Kanaan, Mark Webber, Bobby Labonte, Stewart, Helio Castroneves, Paul Tracy, and Willy T. Ribbs.
