Kyle Busch and his contractual deadlock have been under speculation for a long time. Recently, NASCAR journalist Jim Utter revealed that he had a word with Toyota Racing Development regarding the future of Kyle Busch.

Utter stated, “Caught up with @ToyotaRacing‘s @DavidWilsonTRD on the grid tonight and asked him, “Has Toyota run out of options on keeping Kyle Busch? His reply: “I’m not going to talk about that subject today.”
Kyle Busch’s situation took a turn for the worst after M&M’s announced that they would be leaving the sport at the end of the 2022 season. Ever since then, JGR and Toyota have been reportedly at work trying to secure a sponsorship for his contract extension. Nevertheless, they have not yet been able to find anything for Busch’s extension, leaving his future an open-ended problem.
A few months back things seemed to be going in the right direction for Busch, as reports suggested that Oracle might take up his sponsorship duties; however, soon that deal fell through the cracks and never materialized.
Fans react to Jim Utter’s statement on Kyle Busch
NASCAR fans took to blame JGR and TRD for failing to find the two-time champion a contract and sponsorship for next year. They took to Twitter to express their thoughts regarding the ongoing dilemma.
Many fans stated that TRD and JGR did not do their jobs and they should’ve looked at Hendrick Motorsport as an example of how to retain drivers by sponsoring them with their own brand.
@DavidWilsonTRD and @JoeGibbsRacing didn’t do their job that’s how they lost him. They sign a driver that isn’t even top 17 in the sport with 1 win but can’t sign a top 10 driver ever it’s sad.

Sounds like a man that has been at the helm, and has watched, as his manufacturer has fumbled away the greatest driver they have ever had driving their race cars. It’s pretty scathing to the manufacturers legacy to let this happen.

Good job Toyota! Letting Kyle Busch and Erik Jones go. Good job you guys are so smart

All I have heard for years is Toyota has unlimited racing funds. Strange to learn that they don’t.

If Kyle does sign with someone else, this is on Wilson and Gibbs. Just look at how smart Hendrick was to sign Larson and basically sponsor him with his own company. Toyota could have looked after a lot if not all the sponsorship until others joined. Shame on Toyota if it happens.

Regardless of whatever is going on at TRD or JGR, one thing is for certain – Busch seems to have multiple offers in front of him and it will be only a matter of time before he announces his decision as to where he will be headed next year.
