NASCAR’s Silly Season continues to throw up a lot more speculation with a few rides for next season yet to be decided. Among the drivers waiting with bated breath on a decision on their future is Erik Jones. Along with this, the comeback of Kyle Larson into NASCAR itself is highly anticipated.

Jones vacates the No. 20 car at Joe Gibbs Racing at the end of the season. With Larson’s potential return, Jones does not know whether that affects his own chances in Silly Season. While Jones said he has no idea of Larson’s potential return, he hopes to see Larson return soon.

Jones believes Larson has worked really hard to repair the mistakes due to which NASCAR suspended him.

You never really know, I don’t know if he is coming back. I have no idea. I mean I know he’s worked hard at trying to fix his mistakes, which is very admirable. You can’t fault him for trying to fix what had happened,” Jones said in an interview.

I hope he can work something out. I don’t know what his decision is will impact mine, I can’t say for sure I know what he’s doing. So I hope something works out for him. Like I said, I think he’s worked hard to try and repair his mistakes and make things better for himself,” Jones said.

The 24-year-old admitted that Larson’s return will be difficult. “I know he’s got a pretty tough road to go ahead. To try to get back into the sport, into the Cup level. Not only that but in a top tier ride,” Jones continued.

At the same time, Jones said there is something new said every day about Larson’s potential return.

You hear everything, something different every day right? Being in this sport, from different people. In what he’s doing, whether he’s coming back, he’s not coming back. If he is coming back, where he’s driving, where he’s not driving,” Jones said further.

Larson is yet to officially apply for reinstatement into NASCAR. He held talks with NASCAR officials a couple of months ago, over the same.
