It seems like ‘The Northman’ is coming to the South later this month thanks to NASCAR. This is because Hollywood star Alexander Skarsgård, whose latest film, ‘The Northman’ is set to hit the screens on April 22, will be the Grand Marshall at GEICO 500.

Skarsgård will have the privilege of saying, “Drivers, please start your engines,” when the Next Gen cars hit the superspeedway in Alabama on April 24.

The President of Talladega Superspeedway, Brain Crichton, spoke about the actor after the announcement. “Alexander continues the tradition of some of Hollywood’s most notable names being a Grand Marshal here at Talladega Superspeedway, the most competitive and fan-friendly race track on the planet,” he said.

“Every race fan in the grandstands and infield, as well as those at home watching or listening to the broadcast, will anticipate hearing those famous four words to get the GEICO 500 underway.”

From a dramatic actor in disguise of a comic, Adam Sandler, someone who can hit it out of the park in Happy Gilmores as well as Uncut Gems at New Hampshire in 2015 or be it, to Mr. Bond, himself, Daniel Craig at Charlotte in 2021, to Marky Mark, Mark Wahlberg at Las Vegas in 2007, to the coolest ‘alrighter’ ever, Matthew McConaughey at Daytona in 2005 or at COTA 2021, Hollywood has been a bigger part of NASCAR than it gets credit for.

Now, whether or not their films come close to the drama in NASCAR is another topic. In fact, it isn’t. They don’t.
