It’s not that often that Rick Hendrick loses his calm. Anyone who has been watching NASCAR for a long time will tell you the same, after the post-race conference at Darlington which saw the team boss angry, despite his driver winning the race. And that’s because of one person, and one person only, Ross Chastain.

Chastain has very quickly risen up the charts of notoriety in NASCAR with his on-track incidents, with almost everyone in the garage at one point or the other.

But if Kenny Wallace, the former driver, is to be believed, he shouldn’t have made Mr. H mad because that could come back to haunt not just him, but Trackhouse Racing in general.

NASCAR veteran claims Ross Chastain has woken up “the sleeping giant”

Speaking about Chastain’s most recent incident at Darlington in which he compromised Kyle Larson’s result towards the end, Wallace claimed that the #1 driver has now woken up “the sleeping giant,” which is Rick Hendrick.

Wallace claimed that upon listening to Mr. H’s words in that post-race interview, he knew there was going to be more to the story than what’s on the surface.

“ECR builds the motors for Ross Chastain and team Trackhouse, ECR is a conglomerate of Richard Childress Racing and Hendrick Motorsports. Basically, Chevrolet combined their efforts, ECR builds the motors and it is both teams, RCR and Hendrick together,” he described.

“Because you gotta remember, that’s Chevrolet, they’re racing Ford, they’re racing Toyota. Their job is to outrun the other automakers and let the chips fall where they may.”

Kenny Wallace urges Ross Chastain and Trackhouse to “be careful”

Wallace furthered his point by claiming that for obvious reasons, Trackhouse Racing aren’t “self sufficient,” and that they need somebody. “Team Trackhouse, Ross Chastain, they need Rick Hendrick, they need Richard Childress, because those guys, they build the motors for team Trackhouse,” he claimed.

“Be careful, that’s all I’m saying.”

The veteran driver also claimed that what Rick Hendrick said “If you hit us, we’re gonna hit you back,” which could potentially mean that Rick Hendrick is telling his drivers, “Wreck that son of a b***h. Wreck him.”

“Because he’s not gonna win a championship.”
