The image of ‘rockstars’ is what usually comes to mind when you think about insane parties. However, Dale Earnhardt Jr might be the one NASCAR driver who challenges this notion, this cliche.

The fact that the former NASCAR driver loved to party and crack open a cold one every once in a while back when he was young is pretty well-known. But what about the extent of it?

In an episode of Dale Jr Download, Ty Norris, the former Vice President of Dale Earnhardt Incorporated (DEI) revealed the phone call he received from one of Dale Jr’s sponsors, Budweiser one day.

“I got a call from Tim Schuler from Budweiser one day, and Steve Uihlein, and they were like, ‘Hey, what’s going on over at Jr.’s house?’ And I said ‘What do you mean?’ Well, the local distributor just said, ‘The most beer I deliver to any retailer in the entire state of North Carolina is in Mooresville at Dale Jr.’s house,’” Norris described.

“They said ‘Is he selling it?’ And you’re like ‘No, they’re drinking it.’”

Dale Earnhardt Jr had “help” with the Budweisers

Ty Norris recalled Budweiser’s Tim Schuller surprisingly asking “how the hell” was Dale Jr drinking so much beer.

Apparently, they were receiving “case after case” to the point where there wasn’t a single story in that region where so much beer was being consumed. But the NASCAR Hall of Famer quickly described that he wasn’t really alone in this phase of his life.

“I had a lot of help drinking it,” he said.

But this was ‘back in the day’.

The NASCAR Hall of Famer, even if he wants, simply can’t live by the same lifestyle he did when he was young. All that he has now are stories, and who wouldn’t want to listen to Dale Earnhardt Jr recalling, “So this one time, I got so hammered” stories?

Let’s hope he opens up on a few of those soon.
