Sweet’s NASCAR debut came in 2009 in the Truck Series with Stringer Motorsports in the #90 truck. He competed in the final two races of the season at Phoenix and Homestead-Miami. In the following year, though, he took part in nine races, but only qualified for eight of them.

On the bright side, his performance improved, and he notched up a best finish of 8th. This came at the Indianapolis Raceway Park in the 2010 season. A year later, he moved to Turner Motorsports and drove the #32 truck. Over there, he competed in the first eight races of the season and even finished in the Top 10 in the last two races. To be precise, he finished 10th and 9th at Charlotte and Kansas respectively.

In terms of his Xfinity Series career though, he debuted in 2010 for Braun Racing at Gateway, finishing 32nd. Two years later, he moved to Turner Motorsports and enjoyed a fairly decent season. In his first race at California, he notched up a best finish of 6th place. Later in the year, Sweet would finish in a fine 10th place at Kentucky. Finally, he moved to JR Motorsports in the #5 Chevrolet and picked up four Top 10s, including 6th at Michigan.
