With the Coke Zero Sugar 400 finally done and dusted, the NASCAR regular season has officially drawn to a close. Now, the paddock and the 16 drivers in the playoffs will be looking ahead to the coming weekend’s race at Darlington Raceway.

For these 16 drivers, everything is on the line as they duke it out in the next 10 races to crown a champion. The man with the giant target painted on his back is, Kevin Harvick. He took the title in 2014, but has been up and down since then, so this is his big chance to claim the trophy back.

However, Denny Hamlin will be leading the charge to close him down, with 6 wins on the board, and Harvick’s biggest threat. Aside from him, Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano and Chase Elliot will be hot on their heels.

Other major contenders are Martin Truex Jr, Ryan Blaney, Alex Bowman, William Byron and Austin Dillon. However, nobody can rule out Cole Custer, Aric Almirola, Clint Bowyer, Matt DiBenedetto and the Busch brothers.

Who will win the NASCAR playoffs?

All of these drivers will be massive threats when the playoffs begin on 6th September. Out of these 16 drivers, 11 of them have wins under their belt, which could give them an advantage. However, the saying goes, ‘never say never’, because there is a possibility of somebody springing a surprise.

Kevin Harvick has been on a roll this season, with 7 wins in the bag, but Denny Hamlin is right on his tail. There is also the subject of the other drivers on the NASCAR grid who have not qualified for the playoffs. This is because, they all have nothing to lose or gain in these next 10 races.

So, there is a distinct possibility of one of the non-playoff drivers trying to ruin the party. One example will be Jimmie Johnson, who will be motivated to win at least one race before he steps away from NASCAR.
