Recently, Martinsville race winner Alex Bowman appeared in a podcast. The #48 driver spoke on a variety of subjects, including, but not limited to his Martinsville triumph. He also briefly touched upon his spat with Denny Hamlin after they tangled late in the race. Bowman also talked about teammate Chase Elliott and his driving style, which was quite interesting.

He said, “Chase kind of does a good job of driving like Jeff Gordon used to there. He’s got his thing where he can kind of run in the middle of the race track. Make a lot of speed. I can’t drive Chase’s setup, I’ll go run 25th, with Chase’s setup. We had to develop something that worked well for me. It took a long time to do that. For the last four or five races, we’ve been really good. We were really good there in the spring, but got caught up in a wreck. So it’s pretty cool to run well there.”

What to expect from Alex Bowman in the final race of the season?

This weekend, the Cup Series drivers will face off in the season finale at the Phoenix Raceway. With Elliott and Kyle Larson competing for the 2021 Cup Series title, tensions will be high in the Hendrick Motorsports camp. Without a doubt, both Alex Bowman and William Byron will be needed to act as rear gunners for Elliott and Larson.

This is because, the two Hendrick drivers have to contend with two Joe Gibbs Racing drivers, in addition to each other. They can also be sure that Kyle Busch and Christopher Bell will be looking out for Martin Truex Jr and Denny Hamlin.

This time around, there is a qualifying session, so it will all depend on who qualifies the highest and eventually wins. One thing is for sure, there will be no holds barred at Phoenix.
