Matt Kenseth has had several shots at trying to win at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. On three of those occasions, he has finished as the runner up, so the 2020 race is possibly his last chance to finally win a Cup race.

Sadly, he missed out yet again and finished as the runner up behind Kevin Harvick. Admittedly, Kenseth had a tough task ahead of him, as he was surrounded by Harvick and his teammates, Cole Custer and Aric Almirola.

In a live chat, he confessed, “I certainly wasn’t flawless today. I certainly could have done a little bit better. The couple of restarts, particularly the last one, but I feel a lot more comfortable than I have been for sure.”

He admitted that the Pocono race was a massive step forward for himself and the team. Even in this race, the car performed exceptionally well and he hopes to carry that moment into the coming races.

Kenseth is filling in for Kyle Larson, after he got fired for racial slurs during an online race. The 48-year old veteran managed to split the Stewart-Haas drivers, finishing ahead of Almirola and Custer.

Harvick inherited the lead when the then race leader Denny Hamlin crashed out with less than 10 laps to go. This puts him at a massive advantage in the title fight as they are now tied with four victories this season.

Hamlin and Harvick had been dominant in the second half of the race and nobody could catch them. It is also worth noting that Austin Dillon and Matt DiBenedetto crashed at the finish line, finishing 18th and 19th, respectively.

The race was quite a dramatic one as tire trouble dominated the proceedings, with Hamlin being one of the victims. Thankfully, Matt Kenseth survived and almost caused a shock upset.
