In the world of drag racing, John Force is a name synonymous with unparalleled dedication and tireless endurance. Even at 74 years old, when most people would hang up their racing helmets, Force revs his engine with an intensity that defies the constraints of time itself. Naturally, the 16-time NHRA champion is a source of inspiration for many, including NASCAR veteran, Kenny Wallace. In a recent interview on Wallace’s YouTube channel, the 74-year-old drag-racing icon shared his heartfelt reasons for continuing to compete, at an age when most consider slowing down.

For John Force, however, drag racing is more than just a competitive sport—it’s a passion that has always been a part of who he is. “Well, I do it because I love NHRA drag racing… I was on the phone with Cruz Pedregon this morning, getting my butt kicked by him, verbally. These are the only friends I got in my life. He and I have kind of grown up out here. These are all the friends I have got, I got my wife at home, I got my grandchildren, I got my daughters, Ashley, Brittany & Courtney in ADRA. But I love getting in my hot rod…,” Force expressed with a chuckle during the exchange.

This event takes place as the NHRA season draws near.

Force, who is always game for a challenge, stated his enthusiasm for the race’s unique format, which involves a chip draw to decide matchups post-qualifying. “I’m excited about it. It’s an opportunity to learn, change, and maybe an opportunity for NHRA to get some ideas. Let’s just see what happens,” the 22-time champion owner stated confidently as per Drag Illustrated.
