With the Cup Series paddock ready to roll into Daytona once again for the Coke Zero Sugar 400 weekend come August, tickets for the 2024 season’s Daytona 500 went live yesterday. Slated to be held on February 18th, 2024, fans have started securing their spots in the grandstands and the camping area well in advance owing to recent years’ sellout success.

“Sold out”: Wild news regarding the Daytona 500 hits Twitter

The 2023 Daytona 500 witnessed the event tickets being sold out for the eighth consecutive time. As the remainder of the grandstand and camping area tickets were sold by mid-January, Daytona International Speedway President, Frank Kelleher, has high hopes of an early sellout for the upcoming 2024 season. Banking on the overwhelming response to this year’s Daytona 500, Frank Kelleher said, “The 2023 Daytona 500 kicked off a historic NASCAR season with great fanfare, entertainment and excitement. We’re thrilled to build off that energy as we prepare to welcome fans back for the 2024 Daytona 500.”

As tickets for the grandstands and camping area went live yesterday, The Athletic’s Jeff Gluck posted a wild yet impressive news on Twitter. Revealing how the infield camping area has already been sold out within 24 hours, Jeff Gluck wrote, “Daytona 500 tickets went on sale today. It sold out in mid-January this year but has been getting earlier with sellouts.” Gluck further added, “Get this: Infield camping is *already* sold out. Only “limited” camping spots remaining are outside Turn 2 in the West Lot.”

News of the sellout spread rapidly on Twitter, and NASCAR fans went into a frenzy.

Baffled by the early sellout, NASCAR fans try coming up with reasons

Following Jeff Gluck posting the news on Twitter, baffled fans took to the comments. Still in disbelief regarding the overwhelming response to ticket sales, one fan commented, “So NASCAR is once again announcing attendance figures, or only when it’s a sellout?” To this comment, Jeff Gluck responded, “They aren’t announcing the actual numbers even with a sellout. It’s just “sellout” without specifics.”

With many terming NASCAR as a dying sport, another fan commented, “I thought nascar was dying lol”. Another fan trotted down the critic path writing, “Sold out because there’s no back stretch seats anymore!!!!” Here are some more comments from the fans.
