Chase Elliott finally ends his streak of bitter defeats in NASCAR’s frantic first push of rescheduled races with his first Cup victory of the season.

Elliott wins Thursday night’s rain-delayed race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The race concludes a close-packed schedule of 7 races in 12 days for NASCAR. The event was postponed from Wednesday night because of heavy rain. And It was the fourth Cup Series race since the NASCAR racing returned on May 17.

After his win, Elliott said, “It’s not the Coke 600, but any win in the Cup series is really hard to get,”. He added, “I just really appreciate everybody at Hendrick Motorsports across the street here. Everybody’s been working really hard.”

Elliott had two baffling misfortunes in the last week. He was leading the Sunday night’s Coca-Cola 600 when a caution occurred two laps before the race end and Elliott lost his lead.

At that time he had the 600 checkered flag in sight until an alert brought about by his own colleague. Elliott pitted from the lead, took four tires and couldn’t return to the front during the two-lap additional time run.

Elliott’s trouble started three Cup races back. A week ago, when he was attempting to race for the lead at South Carolina’s Darlington Raceway and was damaged by Kyle Busch.

Last night, Elliott brought in Kevin Harvick with 27 laps remaining and finished off the triumph. He was attacking hard on Harvick with around 35 laps remaining. After that, he inquired as to whether he had enough fuel to make it to the completion. After Team boss Alan Gustafson confirmed Elliott did only that.

Be that as it may, in the wake of passing Harvick, with only the finish line before him, Elliott was worried that something might go wrong. He said after the race, “I was just waiting for the caution to come out,”.

He added, “If the caution didn’t come out, I was thinking I was probably going to break something or I was going to crash. After the last couple of weeks, surely it wasn’t going to go green until the end. Hopefully, we’re back on the right path.”
