Things got a little heated up towards the end of the Xfinity race in Phoenix when Kyle Busch and his teammate in the race Chandler Smith had a minor incident that ended up costing them both. What was more interesting was that Smith used to run for Busch’s Truck team until last season.

Chandler Smith makes new revelations about Kyle Busch

In a recent episode of the Door Bumper Clear podcast, Smith claimed that since the race in Phoenix, he hasn’t been able to get in touch with his former boss. After that, he claimed what he did was something that only Busch taught him.

“He is the one that taught me all this. Like how I raced him and all is exactly how he told me to race at KBM,” Smith revealed. He recalled how during the 2020 season, he was struggling on mile-and-a-half tracks. “It was rough, really rough,” he described as he opened up on the “really big learning” curve that came from Busch.

“He explained to me the whole, ‘People are making forward progression on you and whatnot, they can suck you around. But if you go into the corner with forward progression, they can’t suck you around. You’ll have the side force, you’ll be good,'” Smith recalled.

After revealing what Busch taught him, Chandler Smith emphasized that he was trained to not be mad if he gets wrecked by someone who is sitting on his door during a race. “I can’t be mad at Kyle Busch for wrecking me in Phoenix, and I wasn’t,” he added.

Having said that, he does have an issue with his former boss.

“I was upset with him because if the shoe was on the other foot and I was in 2nd and at that time Kyle was in 3rd and he was faster than me, he would’ve been really pi**ed if I didn’t let him go,” Smith revealed.

He claimed he’s “more upset” with the fact that Busch hasn’t even talked to him about it despite his repeated attempts at doing so. “I want to get over it. He’s a grown man, two-time champion,” Smith said.
