A new era has begun for Kyle Busch fans. After parting ways with JGR, the two-time champion will now be starting a new chapter in his career with RCR. However, as many would agree, Busch’s decision to join hands with Richard Childress is not something that many foresaw.

In May 2011, Richard Childress and Kyle Busch were involved in an ugly after-race fight. Childress confronted Busch in a garage area after the driver ran into RCR’s Joey Coulter during the race. Furthermore, it was alleged that Childress put Busch in a headlock before punching him multiple times.

What did Childress have to say about Busch?

Now, almost 11 years later, the two of them seem to have put it all behind them. In his recent conversation with NBC writer Dustin Long, Richard Childress spoke about the impact Kyle Busch is already making at RCR. Moreover, Busch’s former rival also stated that everyone at RCR is excited about the upcoming season with Rowdy.

But like one would expect, not everyone has forgotten about the 2011 incident. Reminding how Childress was tired of Busch wrecking his cars around a decade ago, a Twitter user commented under Kenny Wallace’s post featuring Childress’ interview.

However, Kenny Wallace’s reply to the comment is something that needs special attention. Wallace hinted that maybe Childress always wanted Busch on his team. And this wish became the base for his anger towards Rowdy.

Kyle Busch on embarking on a new beginning

Replacing Tyler Reddick in RCR’s #8, Kyle Busch is all set to drive alongside his new crew chief Randall Brunett in the upcoming 2023 NASCAR Cup Series. Busch will be driving alongside his new teammate Austin Dillon.

Interestingly, it was Dillon’s idea to onboard Busch after he realized that the 2019 Cup Series champion will not be extending his contract with Joe Gibbs Racing.

Excited with the opportunity, Kyle Busch told NBC Sports, “I’m hopeful that a fresh start can kind of clean up some of the aggravations of mistakes and things like that that have kind of happened over the last couple of years on my side of things.”

Furthermore, he added, “But to just be able to go race and get back behind the wheel again. To think that you are wanted somewhere and you have people that are excited about having you.”
