“I’d Love to One Up Him” – Hours After Sharing Podium With Tony Stewart and Denny Hamlin, Chase Elliott Makes Emotional Revelation About His Parents

NASCAR and its unique roster have always captivated fandom. While the fans love the sport for its action-packed races and the drama that unfolds off the tracks, the major reason they keep coming back is the drivers, who arguably remain the sport’s biggest attractions!

One such attraction, and arguably the biggest of them all, is Chase Elliott, whose absence even led to a fall in TV ratings for NASCAR.

As the #9 driver is back, he is naturally the talk of the town and fans just can’t seem to get enough of him. But thanks to his recent appearance in the ‘Lunch with Lindsay’ podcast, his followers have some new content to relish.

On the very first episode of the podcast, Chase Elliott was joined by musician Eric Church and the host of the show Lindsay, as the Hendrick Motorsports driver talked about his career. The 1-hour long podcast saw Elliott engage in a lot of topics. But the most interesting take Elliott had was when Church asked about his father’s legacy and how it has affected him.

Being the ace speedster in one of the most ‘winningest’ teams in the sport, Chase Elliott has always been loved and admired. And now, with his name being added to the greatest driver’s list among the likes of Tony Stewart and Denny Hamlin, the stalks are at an all-time high.

While the trio was chatting about the driver’s early days, Church came up with an interesting question. The musician asked Elliott about growing up as the son of a legendary racer and how he coped with all the expectations laid on him.

Talking about the role of his mother, who took him to races while being his pillar of support, the #9 driver also explained how his parents never forced racing on him. He said, I think because of that it was it kind of became my own path at least in my eyes, um and I’ve never really looked at the expectations of you know dad’s career or things he accomplished.”

“I mean of course I want to I want to go home and have a personal conversation about those things, not because I’ve cared about what everybody else thinks but yeah like on a personal level I’d love to one-up him absolutely like I’d love to.”

With the driver coming back to the tracks after his unfortunate accident, fans were excited to see him open up and chat about his journey.

Adding to the legacy of the Elliott family, Chase Elliott joined his father, the 1988 Cup Series champion, Bill Elliott, on NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers list. The recognition comes after the driver made his comeback at Martinsville Speedway, finishing the race with an impressive 10th position.

Considering his 6-week layoff, due to the injury, his Martinsville performance is a testament to his skill. Coming off of the injury to post a top-10 finish is something incredible.

Besides Elliott, the list also features NASCAR greats like the 3-time champ, Tony Stewart, Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin and Elliott’s teammate Kyle Larson.
