It is known that Bubba Wallace originally tried his hand at basketball before deciding that his calling was in motorsports. However, back in 2019 during the rain delay at Michigan, Wallace joined Corey LaJoie to play catch with the audience on the other side of the fence. Hilariously, his throwing style became a butt of jokes at the NASCAR commentary booth.

During the rain delay at Michigan, NASCAR drivers, Corey LaJoie and Bubba Wallace started playing catch with the fans. When Wallace got hold of the ball, he seemed to have exhausted the life out of him while attempting to throw the ball across the fence.

Soon the commentators sitting in the booth said, “If we get this race going, Bubba’s not gonna have any arm left.”

Bubba Wallace wanted to play basketball before finally moving into motorsports

Wallace dreamed of playing in the NBA while growing up but after a certain point in time, he decided to stay in the world of racing after starting with go-karts at age 9, and ever since Wallace was devoted to racing. However, had he not discovered his passion for racing, he might have been in an entirely different sport today.

Wallace claimed that playing ball apparently was not much of his forte and he found out later that his true talent sparkled only when he was out racing. He stated,I was five I started playing basketball. Played a little Rec league stuff. And then, seven and eight, I was doing AAU travel ball. I wasn’t I wasn’t the best by any, means but it just kind of felt like that was the path I was gonna go down.”

All in all, it seemed to have been a good call to remain in racing for him. After all, he managed to meet Michael Jordan regardless of what sport he chose.
