In the 2020 Cup Series season, around 11 drivers reached Victory Lane. A few of them grabbed multiple wins, case in point, including Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin. Recently, NASCAR posed a question on which drivers who went winless in 2020 will grab a race victory. Matt DiBenedetto decided to do a bit of self-promotion and threw his hat in the ring.
“I’ll pick the 21,” DiBenedetto replied.

Can Matt DiBenedetto get the monkey off his back?
Theoretically, he can do it, but there are many contenders for that elusive win. First and foremost, the biggest threat is reigning champion, Chase Elliott, with the rest of the Championship 4 after him. Other drivers like Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Alex Bowman, Martin Truex Jr, Ryan Blaney, and Kurt Busch.

Even the likes of Cole Custer, William Byron, the Xfinity graduates, and Bubba Wallace could be dark horses. If DiBenedetto can overcome all these factors, he will be able to win a maiden race. Looking at it from a statistical point of view, Las Vegas could be the best race for this.

This is because he has performed well at the track, with two consecutive runner-up finishes. Of course, NASCAR’s unpredictable nature could also provide him with other opportunities. One thing is for certain, that that maiden Cup Series win will come eventually, and it would be a glorious triumph.
