Last month, news broke that Brad Keselowski was leaving the Team Penske organisation. Instead, he will race for the Roush Fenway Racing team and take on the role of part owner. In light of this, his current teammate Joey Logano spoke about his soon-to-be former teammate.

He said, “Brad and I, I feel like, are very close teammates. Obviously, we race each other hard and we have in the past, but we have a relationship off the race track. We really care for each other as a person.

“Talking to him about this and understanding his decisions and what’s coming his way, I’m excited for him.”

Logano acknowledged that the Roush Fenway move is an interesting opportunity for Keselowski. The 37-year-old often pushed Logano to the limit and they complimented each other, which is why he liked having the 2012 Cup Series champion as a teammate.

According to him, he and Keselowski were a bit similar in some aspects and different in others. When they push each other and compliment each other, they become ideal teammates. He continued, “That’s what you want in a teammate. I don’t want to be the guy that is lightyears ahead of my teammates.”

Speaking about Ryan Blaney and the incoming Austin Cindric, he admitted that they can also push him in their own way. At the end of the day, any driver will want a teammate who will push them to the limit and improve them. This will, in turn, benefit the team and the company. Joey Logano acknowledged that Blaney’s prowess on the 550 race tracks will be hugely beneficial.

Meanwhile, Austin Cindric may be a rookie, but he has performed well at road courses. So, he will be able to keep Logano on his toes on the road courses. For now, Logano and Keselowski will see out the remainder of the 2021 season before the latter bows out.
