For the 2021 NASCAR season, Ty Dillon will be doing double duty in the Cup and Xfinity Series. Aside from his Gaunt Brothers gig, he will also race for the Joe Gibbs Racing Xfinity team. Recently, he spoke about his second NASCAR engagement in the second tier of the series.

He said, “This is a massive opportunity for me. I wholeheartedly believe that I’m one of the best drivers in this sport at the highest level. Given the right opportunity, I can prove that. I’m looking forward to it, It’s a great challenge and opportunity at some great race tracks. As excited as I can be and I’m gonna give all I got. When we step out of these races, I know that I’ve given myself every opportunity this year.”

This year, Dillon will be piloting the #54 Joe Gibbs car on a part-time basis. In addition to that, he will be sharing the ride with Ty Gibbs and fellow Cup drivers, Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, and Martin Truex Jr. All five of them will pop into the car for a limited number of races in the #54 car.

How many NASCAR Xfinity races will Ty Dillon compete in?

Aside from the season opener at Daytona, the Joe Gibbs Racing team will deploy him in a few other races. His Xfinity schedule includes the Homestead-Miami Speedway, the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and the Talladega Superspeedway. Suffice to say, the outfit can benefit greatly from his experience, especially with more than 350 starts under his belt.

Ty Dillon is also a former Xfinity at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. In addition to that, he finished in the Top 5 in every full-time Xfinity season. Since then, he has graduated to the Cup Series and has been performing well in that arena. For this season though, he will focus on his limited Xfinity cameos and his full-time Cup Series season.
