It was rather unfortunate when Dale Earnhardt Jr. was forced to retire from NASCAR because of his battle with concussion injuries. But right now, the situation in the sport is also quite reminiscent of the aforementioned time.
This season we’ve had two drivers who’ve suffered the same injury as Dale Jr., Kurt Busch, whose future remains uncertain and Alex Bowman, the latest victim of the injury stemming from the Next Gen car.

Bowman’s injury was also the subject of discussion between NASCAR spotters, Brett Griffin and Freddie Kraft. A discussion that led to one of the two revealing what the biggest fear for a driver is, and how Dale Jr. must be empathizing with Bowman’s situation.
“The thing that concerns me is, a lot of these guys, they’re competitors, right? I mean, we see this in all forms of sports; we see this everywhere, and credit to Alex (Bowman) for actually coming forward and say he has an issue,” Kraft said. “Because I know for a fact that there are guys out there that feel probably similar to Alex or have had issues, and they’re not gonna say anything because they don’t wanna get out of the car.”
This led to Brett Griffin adding, “A driver’s biggest fear is someone else driving their racecar,” to which Kraft continued with, “The problem is if you have one concussion, the next one is gonna happen way easier, and down the line and it’s only gonna get worse.”
“I’m sure Dale (Earnhardt Jr.) can tell you that.”

With that said, do you think Bowman will recover in time for next weekend’s race? Or could his injury take the same shape as that of Kurt Busch or even Dale Jr.?
