In 2022, NASCAR will be eagerly waiting for the Next Gen cars to make their debuts. However, there were some rumors that the Gen 6 predecessors could make a return to the track soon. This was because there were suggestions that some teams were asked to keep a handful of Gen 6 cars. Now, there has been clarification that this is completely false.

Furthermore, such a move would make little sense. First and foremost, it will be a massive inconvenience for the teams. The rumor largely stems from concerns about how the new cars will run on the Bristol dirt. In all honesty, it is a valid concern, but NASCAR would have prepared for that oversight.

What has NASCAR done to tackle these potential problems?

As per some reports, the Next Gen cars have several modifications to deal with the dirt issue. This includes removing windshield cooling ducts, the splitter being trimmed back, aluminum rockers, and no rub blocks. Additionally, the diffusers have been swapped for a flat panel.

Hopefully, all of these tweaks will be beneficial for the teams next season. Last year, there were a fair number of complaints about visibility at the Bristol Motor Speedway dirt race. Additionally, all of the dirt being accumulated on the car would definitely be a headache. This is because it could possibly slow the car down and affect the aerodynamics.

Luckily for the sport, there are still a couple of tests remaining before the season begins. So this will give everyone plenty of time to put the cars through their paces and be ready in time. All throughout the last couple of years, the response has been generally positive. In the event that there are a few complaints, those are quickly addressed and it leaves everyone satisfied.
