The massive fireworks displays on the Fourth of July across the country serve as a testimony to the American spirit. However, NASCAR’s Fourth of July festivities over the past few years have not resonated well with many fans—primarily because the historic Daytona International Speedway has not been the venue. But it looks like NASCAR may finally be trying to bend public opinion.

Atlanta Motor Speedway is one of the most historic and prestigious tracks in the current NASCAR circuit. Toured by all three national series, it offers frequent occasions for fans to interact with their favorite drivers. In the Truck Series, the race is sponsored by Fr8Auctions and is officially called the Fr8Auctions 208. The auctioneering company based out of Georgia has been the corporate sponsor for the race since 2021, when it replaced Camping World and Veteran Tickets Foundation.

AMS has announced that their collaboration with the company will be taken up a notch next year. The Fr8Auctions Fireworks Extravaganza—the biggest pyrotechnic show in Atlanta—will be a free-entry, open-to-all event. Speaking with the Speedway Digest, Marcus Barela, the owner of the company, said, “Fr8Auctions is thrilled to partner with the Speedway to provide a fun, family-friendly way to celebrate our freedom on Independence Day. Better yet, we’re making it free to enter so everyone can come enjoy this event.”

NASCAR Fans Outraged at Rumored Decision to Remove Fan-Favorite Track for Chicago

AMS’s Brandon Hutchison said, “We’re excited to invite everyone to enjoy a night of entertainment and fireworks on us for the 4th of July. It all kicks off our summer NASCAR event, culminating in our much anticipated return to night racing… Simply put, Atlanta Motor Speedway is the place to be next summer!”

It does sound like a great initiative and might sit well with the fans and the community.

NASCAR’s recent Fourth of July celebrations

While AMS and Fr8Auctions may be celebrating the Fourth of July together, NASCAR generally tends to make its own plans for the memorable day.

In 2022, NASCAR chose to celebrate the day with a Cup Series race at Road America for the second consecutive year. The historic track in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, has to date only hosted 3 Cup Series races—the first coming way back in 1956, and the other two in 2021 and 2022.

Road America is a 4.048-mile road course that was built in the 1950s and retains large portions of its design to this day. The challenging track has been built along the natural topography of the glacial moraines with steep plunges that could take drivers down into ravines. In 2022, it was one of the six road courses for the year, the others being the Circuit of The Americas, Sonoma Raceway, Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course, Watkins Glen International, and Charlotte ROVAL.
